Kyle’s Story

Kyle’s journey at PUPA Center began in our independence program, where participants are supported in learning more about themselves—how they communicate, make decisions, and navigate daily life with greater confidence. During this stage, Kyle took time to understand his strengths, preferences, and needs in a space that encouraged reflection and self-awareness. This foundation was essential, giving him the clarity and confidence to begin imagining what his future could look like beyond the classroom.

From there, Kyle progressed into PUPA Karya, our work-readiness program. Over the course of the year, he developed practical workplace skills while strengthening his sense of self-determination. Through structured training, group collaboration, and real-world exposure, Kyle explored his work interests, learned about professional expectations, and practiced navigating different work environments. Like many participants, he gained valuable insight into how his skills could translate into meaningful contributions in the workplace.

During PUPA Karya, Kyle was matched with one of our partner companies that was seeking Human Resources interns. As part of the program, we supported the transition on both sides—preparing Kyle for the responsibilities of the role while also working closely with the company to build understanding, readiness, and inclusive practices. With guidance, patience, and open communication, Kyle and the company learned and grew together, creating a work environment where expectations were clear and support was shared.

That partnership led to something lasting. Kyle was invited to continue with the company as a contract worker, and after graduating from PUPA Center, he remains employed there today. His story reflects what becomes possible when individuals, organizations, and communities come together with intention. When the right support meets opportunity, employment becomes more than a role—it becomes a shared success built on trust, collaboration, and belief in potential.
