Owen’s Story
Owen’s journey at PUPA Center began when he joined the work-readiness program, where participants are supported in preparing for employment through structured training, skill development, and real-world exposure. Throughout the program, Owen actively engaged in various workshops focused on job preparation, professional behavior, and workplace expectations. During this time, he demonstrated strong dedication to developing both his technical abilities and personal growth.
One of Owen’s key strengths emerged through his interest in social media content creation. During the program, he developed skills in designing visual content and producing video materials. Through hands-on project assignments, Owen learned to plan, execute, and refine creative content while strengthening his collaboration and responsibility within team projects.
In addition to building technical skills, Owen also worked on developing greater independence in emotional regulation. Through guidance and structured support, he practiced managing challenges, maintaining focus, and adapting to different situations, which further strengthened his readiness to work in professional environments.
During his time in the program, Owen discovered a strong interest in the food and beverage industry, particularly in becoming a barista. His enthusiasm and motivation led him to pursue an internship opportunity at a hospital cafeteria, where he gained hands-on experience as a barista. Through this internship, Owen learned customer service skills, time management, and the importance of maintaining quality and consistency in service. His performance and dedication during the internship led to an opportunity to continue working at the company under a one-year employment contract.
In addition to his experience in the food and beverage sector, Owen also completed an internship at a special needs school, where he gained exposure to educational environments and collaborative work settings. These varied experiences allowed Owen to explore his interests while strengthening his adaptability across different professional environments.
Today, Owen continues to grow professionally while working as part of the social media team at PUPA Center. In this role, he contributes to creating digital content that supports education, awareness, and communication within the community. His involvement reflects both his creative development and his commitment to contributing to a meaningful cause.
